After founding it in April 2016, I was Chair of the University of Bath’s Space Society, Bath SpaceSoc, until handing over the reins in April 2018 due to my election as Chair of UKSEDS, the national student space society.
I twice led SpaceSoc’s rover team as the systems engineer in what was then the UKSEDS Lunar Rover Competition (now the Olympus Rover Trials). We came fourth in the first ever competition and second in the second year. That foundation was then built on by new engineers when I was helping to organise the competition from the UKSEDS side. It was great to then see the team triumph and win the 2019 version of the competition, including a particularly impressive performance on the vibration test where the rover remained totally undamaged.
Since graduating from Bath in summer 2019, I have no longer been involved with SpaceSoc activities, but I look back on my time founding and running the Society with great fondness and wish the new Committee and the Society as a whole all the best for the future.
